Oak making a comeback

Oak is making a comeback in fireplace designs; only it’s been disguised. When most people think of oak it’s the yellow-orange colour of hardwood floor or stair railings.

Walking into an old century home, the creaky oak textured floors suit the overall appeal of the home. Now with more new homes being built, and the popularity of high-rise living, the old oak finish disappeared.

Skip a few years to the present day, oak has been reinvigorated with darker, more modern finishes. Colours like mocha and nutmeg that give this classic material a fresh lease on life. Oaks being such a popular finish a few decades ago, the abundance of oak in the home is apparent.

Pictured below our four different oak finishes, Warm Oak, Medium Oak, Distressed Medium Oak, and Dark Oak.

These finishes are available on a variety of our products like;

Hampton finished in a dark oak

Essex in a distressed medium oak

Kenton which features the medium oak

Preston which offers the warm oak

For more modern homeowners, the distinctive grain pattern still holds charm for many people. With the additions of new fresh finishes the colour options better reflect today’s decorating palette. We’ll likely see even more finishes as people continue to return to the classic look.
