5 Home Design Features That Can Transform Your Living Space

Are you struggling for inspiration when it comes to updating your home? Have you been looking for a way to add some colour and life into your living space, but just can’t seem to find the right idea? It can be tricky to work out what would look right in your rooms, but there are plenty of options when it comes to stunning features.

Here, we take a look at five home design features for bringing your home up to date.

A Wallpapered Feature Wall

A feature wall is easily achieved with wallpaper. Simply pick a relatively small corner of the home and choose a bright or patterned design that complements the rest of your décor. The beauty of this idea is that it will only take a few hours to implement, and you can update it regularly if you feel the need. This approach makes it easy to update your décor every season without spending a fortune or having to bring in the professionals.

A Mosaic Wall

If you’re the creative type, a mosaic wall could be a great way to let your imagination run wild! All it requires is some smashed up polished porcelain tiles and some grouting. Remember that there are no rules when it comes to mosaics, so don’t worry too much about getting it perfect. This could be a brilliant project to get the kids involved in – with careful supervision of course!

A Seating Area in the Bedroom

A sitting area in your bedroom creates a lovely space for reading before bed or just relaxing before a busy day with a cup of coffee. Think along the lines of the rooms that you’ll have stayed in at hotels. You’ll need some sort of comfortable seating and a table. If money is tight, you could pick up a bargain from a local charity shop and make it your own with colored cushions and throws.

A Book Nook

Bookworms will love having their very own mini-library in their home. By bringing a few bookshelves into a corner of the home, along with some seating, you could have your very own haven to retire to after a long day.  Of course a great way to complete this cozy space would be to add an electric hearth from Dimplex.

A Photo Frame Collage

Photos mean a lot to many people, and so it makes sense to showcase them in your home. Simply buy some pretty frames and mount them to the wall. The more the better, so you don’t have to worry about missing anything out. If you don’t have a photo collection, you could use the same approach with attractive prints that you pick up in art stores.
